Do you trust people? 👀
You have to! ⏳
“Here are my Twitter credentials. Post, engage, or do whatever you feel appropriate from my account to ensure it’s looking active, growing, and building meaningful community,” said one of my clients who built a following of 10k+ over the years.
“Use this credit card,” our CEO handed over the details for renewing an online tool.
Now it’s quite common to get access to sensitive data to carry out tasks smoothly. Especially, for marketers.
But every time I was handed over some confidential info or critical tasks, it not only felt overwhelming but a feeling of gratefulness that they trust me. It feels like a big responsibility. 🙏
Interestingly, we all love being loved and trusted and we all try to give back more love than we receive.
I literally asked about it to one of my clients.
He smiled and replied, “You HAVE to trust if you are into business. Of course, there’s a high level of intuition involved while trusting people and it comes with experience. But there’s no other option if you want to grow.”
Most of us coming from middle-class backgrounds do have trust issues. We always look at unknown people through the lens of suspicion. 🔍
But for businesses, it’s common to share financial details, passwords, business stats, strategies and many other things with their employees, freelancers, third party vendors and many other helpers.
The exposure to such clients and all CXOs that I have worked with helped me gradually.
Now an FB ads specialist has complete access to my Facebook ads manager to run ads for my side projects.
A writer has access to my website so I don’t end up wasting time copy-pasting his content. He just gets approval and publishes it on my websites.
So what has changed?
1) I identified some extremely trusted mates who are also friends 🧿
2) Then I created an SOP document for them ✍
It is working beautifully.
Not all projects become ROI-positive but it definitely helps you to grow people-skills and free up some time to focus on more important things.
Remember we are full-time employees first. Be conservative with your energy and time as much as possible. 💪
TODAY’S ACTION ITEM FOR YOU
Step 1: Identify some specialists in your network who can help you with some of your tasks
Step 2: Try negotiating with them to take up some of your tasks. Either you can pay cash, or share profits or return favors by serving their business or maybe something else. People are generally helpful. Try not to be a free-loader though.
Step 3: Of course, don’t skip creating SOP so that they understand the process well.
My previous email will help you with that. In case you missed it, search for my name in your inbox.
Disclaimer: Share only that info which you can risk losing. Don’t share highly-sensitive data. Some things are better managed by you 🙂
WHAT I DID THIS WEEK
Started swimming after Holi. Yay! Let’s beat the summer 🏊♂️
Last weekend was super productive as I kept exploring lots of AI tools and exploring some ways to create some projects out of them.
The weekend ended with homemade Pani Puri with 2 back-to-back movies on a single night. Perfect!
The week was going well and my health suddenly suffered due to the weather change. Sudden rains in the scorching heat of summer didn’t probably suit me.
I caught fever. I am still up with bad health while typing this. Hopefully, this weekend will be restful.
How was your week and how do you plan to spend this weekend 🤔
BOOK I AM CURRENTLY READING
Completed “8 Rules of Love” by Jay Shetty.
The book covers the entire relationship cycle, from first dates to moving in together to breaking up and starting over. Jay also explains how we can learn how to love ourselves, our partners, and the world better than we ever thought possible.
Basically, it’s more about self-love and compassion. His stories and anecdotes of his clients are nice to read.
AROUND THE WEB THIS WEEK
I started using GPT for Sheets and Docs Chrome extension this week. If you ask me about my favorite digital tools, it won’t be anything fancy but Google Sheets. I am not an expert but I love how it can do almost everything.
But this AI tool takes it to next level making it a super tool. I don’t need to remember or explore formulae. I just ask it and it generates everything, right in my Google Sheets. In fact, it can generate several things at a mass scale.
