STAR Framework To Showoff Your Projects

Recently I have started digging deep into storytelling.

In spite of being a marketer, I feel I need to learn a lot!

So I got to know about the STAR Framework.

This is a nice framework to share stories about your side projects.

Although I am looking to use it for marketing purposes, I realized this can be handy for job seekers during interviews.

There are some questions where the interviewer wants to understand how you’ve handled situations in the past to predict how you’ll behave in the future.

Or sometimes they simply ask you about a project that you worked on.

Use STAR Framework –

S = Situation: Describe the context or background.

Example: I started a personal blog focused on reviewing and comparing gadgets because I’m passionate about technology and wanted to share my insights with others.

T = Task: Explain the challenge or responsibility.

Example: My goal was to write and keep posting regularly and try to grow a little community of tech enthusiasts who’d trust my reviews.

A = Action: Outline the steps you took.

Example: To achieve this, I set up a content calendar to ensure regular posts, researched SEO to optimize my blog for search engines, and promoted my blogs on social media. I also engaged with readers by responding to comments and taking their feedback into account for future reviews.

R = Result: Share the outcome or impact of your actions.

Example: Slowly but surely, my blog started gaining readers! Now, I have a small but loyal audience of 1500+ readers, and my blogs are getting more engagement. Plus, I’ve learned a ton about writing, marketing, and building a presence online.

ACTION ITEMS

If you have some amazing project in your portfolio that you’d always like to highlight, use the STAR framework.

WHAT I DID THIS WEEK

Missed last week’s letter as I was at Goa 🌴

Read my friend’s book “Destination: Death” – a book in the horror genre. Abhijeet is so good with storytelling. I just wish it was a lengthier book.

Do check it out on Amazon! It’s currently ranking in the top 500 books in horror genre. That’s big!

Watched “Steve Jobs” movie which focused on problems in his personal and professional life while trying to launch three products in the market.

It was fine but I think they could have made it so better! After all, you are making a movie on Steve Jobs! 🍎

Anyway!

Nothing major to share for this week either! I am writing this at the beginning of the week as I will be traveling again.

I noticed that I travel a lot every year from August – December!

Be it tours, office work or simply for relatives.
