Are You Noting Things Down?

Hey

First, thanks for completing the email course you signed up for.

Honestly, I am overwhelmed not only by the stats and responses but also by the deep conversations over emails.

Like-minded people opening up with their ideas and brainstorming together can be an amazing experience.

So you got some emails that were followed by action items. You might be wondering why I was so hell-bent on having action items.

I will tell you why!

We are in the information age. Most of the information that you read in my emails was readily available on the internet. I just presented it in a structured way.

But just after reading, how much are you able to retain?

So it becomes important to note things down so we don’t get overwhelmed by the information and retain what’s really important.

I will share some practical use cases of how noting things can help –

  • Chopping Tech (one of my products) is just a database of tech startups built using Google Sheets. I started collecting tech startups to pitch their founders and ended up creating a long list. Then I just presented it nicely and currently selling it as a product. People pay for it.
  • One of my colleagues asked me for some recommendations in Mumbai to celebrate his wife’s birthday. I simply sent him my list of amazing places that I curated over a few months.
  • Whenever I discuss any strategies with the founders of our company, they always have some references to share. I am sure they might be curating all those references somewhere all these years. This not only helps teams but also ensures to implementation the best of the strategies for our own projects.

Possibilities are endless and I know you are well aware of the importance. But then comes the implementation part.

There are 2 reasons why I would recommend you start noting things down –

  • Your ideas will be organized and uncluttered because you will ponder if things are really important to note down.
  • You won’t even realize that a huge directory will be formed within a few months or years.

TODAY’S ACTION ITEM

Start noting things down.

Business ideas, content ideas, your favorite places to revisit, birthdays of your favorite people, online tools that you love, products that you want to gift someone, and so on.

You can any tool of your choice – Google Sheets, Google Keep, Notepad, or literally anything but just make sure that they are readily available on all your devices. If you get an idea, it should be accessible quickly.

So what are you starting to note?

WHAT I DID THIS WEEK

This week was slightly unproductive as I am still shifting my studio and honestly it’s daunting to deal with dealers, servicemen, and so many people. Introverts like me are happy when left alone and it’s exactly the opposite of what I went through. Things are settling down and hopefully, I will be back on track with more energy.

I am currently reading Marketing Warfare by Al Ries and Jack Trout. The author has linked military-based tactics in marketing. It was written in 1986 and completely talks about traditional marketing. Of course, nothing about digital marketing. Won’t say it’s too engaging to read but it wonderfully displays some case studies of some giant corporations.
