I have been attending multiple group calls, meetups and events for the past few months.
Yeah – the ones that I absolutely dislike for the reasons you know. But they are important.
If you are an introvert and struggle to market yourself, this letter is for you.
Just meeting a bunch of people isn’t enough.
You have to make it effective for yourself for these 3 major reasons –
✅ You automatically attract people who have similar interests
✅ It builds self-confidence and makes you realize your own worth
✅ It helps you to skip small talk and automatically engage in meaningful conversations
I still remember when I attended the first group call and introduced myself, this is how I went –
“Ummm… ah! Nothing much. I am a digital marketer”
Instant regret! 🤦
What a waste of a golden opportunity to build meaningful connections 😂
I am an introvert and I am really really bad at marketing myself.
Whatever you see about me online, that is an extremely refined version of myself because of years of practice.
In reality, I am just like everyone else sitting in a corner trying to figure out life 😴
So I decided to work on my elevator pitch (read it as: introduction)
So I came up with some cool intros about myself.
1] Extremely short intro for mixed demographics with casual audience because they neither care nor understand what I do –
I am a creator
(Most people end up assuming that I am a Reeler or YouTuber which I don’t even mind correcting because it’s an open opportunity for them to network further and know more)
2] Quick intro for meetups, groups of professionals or even social media bio –
I help online businesses to improve their product experience and market them effectively
OR
I help working professionals to build their side projects
(Depending on the situation or what kind of people I am meeting but this is the most balanced version and I mostly prefer this)
3] Detailed intro for 1-1 or small group meetups
I’m a creator specializing in content and info products. I help SaaS and WordPress brands to effectively market their products.
Apart from my full time role, I train small business owners and solopreneurs through my online content, emails, video courses and consultation calls.
Outside of work, I spend my time journaling, cycling, swimming, and reading to keep myself fulfilled. I love cats and memes.
(BTW – that cat and meme line is often situational but it lightens up the environment)
In this intro, final call to action is important – to let them know how they can connect you. That changes based on where I am introducing myself.
I mostly ask them to mail me because that’s the easiest way anyone can get in touch with me. Else, it’s Whatsapp depending on type of connection.
✍ TODAY’S ACTION ITEM
It’s all inside you. You just need to take out some time and jot down 3 things about yourself –
(1) What problem you solve in your professional life
(2) Who are you solving that problem for
(3) What are your personal interests
Then copy my template. Reply me with your introduction
✔ WHAT I DID THIS WEEK
Worked on setting up marketing priorities and Google My Business profile for the client this week. Basic stuff but important to get leads.
Then took another pro bono project and helped that business with website design review and recommendations from my end.
Researched about Product Value Proposition.
Interesting concept if you are a marketer. Interested to discuss? Hit reply and we can discuss more about it 😍
Then published 1 video and 2 social posts.
Work was dope, but hectic which kept me busy for almost complete days. Missed all my naps too! 😴
Completed the next book of the same series – “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Third Wheel” and it was about Greg facing difficulties in finding a date for Valentine’s eve 🤭
This week was mostly about family time. It was my sister’s wedding anniversary so we celebrated it twice within a week!
Also, I voted this week 🙂
